Credence Farm Alpacas is owned by Brian and Amanda Fitzgerald. We are supported in the business by our sons, Jake (13), Owen (8), and five-year-old twins, Landon and Quinn, and our many, spirited domestic animals.
We are happy to call home a restored 180-year-old log house, which is just yards away from our alpaca barn. The original log house was built in the early 1800s by a man named Pleasant Hunt. The logs were hand-hewn from pine trees growing on the property, and the floors and doors in the house are mostly original heart-pine. In 1998, the house was restored with a post-and-beam addition. The alpaca barn is similarly made from hand-hewn logs and built in traditional dovetail joint construction. Surrounding the house are century-old boxwoods, some almost 20 feet tall, 50-60 foot holly trees, and great old Black Walnut trees.
Our decision to raise alpacas evolved from a desire to work together as a family in an earth-friendly business. After much research into the practical and financial aspects of the business, raising alpacas was an easy answer to what we sought. Like many families, though, we are managing our alpaca business, working other jobs, and raising a family. As a result, we are a realistic and reliable resource for other families who are interested in balancing alpaca farming, and juggling family responsibilities and other full-time work.
Since we started in the alpaca business in early 2004, we have grown more and more each day to love the amazing creatures who both grace and graze in our pastures. We welcome visitors to our farm. If you’re interested in learning more about alpacas, please join us at one of our Open Barn days or, if you are a prospective buyer, we'll be happy to set up an appointment at your convenience.
